Veterinary Assistant program from Apollo College

The objective of the Veterinary Assistant program is to train students to assist Veterinarians at an entry-level position to cure diseases, treat illness, ease discomfort, improve nutrition, mend injuries, increase life expectancy and happiness of animals.

Students will be taught all aspects of assisting in the operation of a veterinary practice. The student will be trained to provide nursing for animals under the direction of the veterinarian. They will learn how animals communicate, animal behavior, breeding, training and the life cycles of animals. They will learn the basics of first aid, basic nursing techniques, surgical preparation, anatomy, routine care and emergency care.
The Veterinary Assistant Program is intended to train individuals to gain knowledge necessary to perform in a veterinary office.
