Medical Administrative Assistant
The fastest employment growth and a majority of the new jobs are
expected in offices of physicians, due to increasing demand for
detailed records, especially in large group practices. Rapid growth
also is expected in nursing care facilities, home healthcare services,
and outpatient care centers. To meet the demands of this occupation,
Florida Technical College offers well rounded curricula. Students will
take courses in computer operations, accounting, office fundamentals,
word processing, spreadsheets and other computer applications. Rapidly
growing industries-such as administrative and support services, health
care and social assistance, educational services (private), and
professional, scientific, and technical services-will continue to
generate most new job opportunities for Medical Administrative Assistants.
Graduates of the Medical Administrative Assistant program receive
training to seek entry-level employment in clerical positions in a
doctor's office or other health care facility. Medical Administrative
Assistants use computer programs to tabulate and analyze data to help
improve patient care, to control costs, for use in legal actions, in
response to surveys, or for use in research studies.
